Parkview Health Administrative Secretary - HIM in Fort Wayne, Indiana
Performs general office organization including statistical reports, ordering supplies, and other administrative support duties for the system-wide HIM Department. Performs administrative secretarial services that produces a culture of high-performance with a focus on hospitality, innovation, continual improvement, technology, and customer satisfaction. Coordinates all HIM related routine activities and programs assigned such as department communications, scheduling meetings and managing the day-to-day calendar for the HIM Director. Also assists with scheduling meetings for other HIM management or staff, as well as recording and organizing meeting minutes. Areas of responsibility may also include payroll editing, organizing and recording reports for monthly performance improvement reporting and other secretarial responsibilities to include coordinating office related functions, special events, and projects. Displays a high degree of independent judgement and self-direction.
Must be a high school graduate or equivalent with GED having completed courses in typing and business. Associate's Degree in business/secretarial and/or other college related courses, preferred.
Must have at least two years experience with an administrative clerical background with experience in general office duties.
Knowledge of medical terminology preferred. Must be computer literate and able to use MS Office products to include Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Access. Excellent written and verbal communication skills and a self-starter that can work with a minimum of supervision. Must be able to type 50 - 55 WPM. Must be familiar with a ten-key calculator, office copier, and fax machine. Demonstrates working knowledge of computerized business applications and must be able to demonstrate proficiency in utilizing word processing and spreadsheet software. Demonstrates the ability to perform tasks at a high rate of accuracy. Must be able to perform all general office procedures; compose correspondence and speak appropriately on phone; display an open-minded attitude; handle interruptions with compassion; organize and maintain structure of files both electronically and paper; multitask with strong organizational skills; identify problems, needs and opportunities; updates policies and procedures; establishes priorities; and conceptualizes and organizes time and resources to accomplish the job.
