Must have a high school diploma or the equivalent GED. Must be a graduate of a Surgical Technologist program or must provide evidence of employment as a Surgical Technologist prior to July 1 2009. Certification is conferred by the National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (NBSTA). Must have current certified surgical technologist certification from an accredited school of surgical technologyor must provide evidence of employment as a certified surgical technologists prior to July 1 2009 or must be a current valid licensed practioner providing evidence of employment as a surgical technologists. Certification must be renewed every four years. Completes required 15 CEU credits annually total accumulation for CSFAs earning 75 hours of approved continuing education in a four-year period. Must have a certification for first assist surgical technologists from an accredited school. Must maintain current CPR certification. Health care experience preferred. Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills. Must be able to demonstrate a working knowledge of general computer skills and applications. Must be able to lift 50 pounds 100 pounds shared lifting. Requires knowledge of specialized first assistant techniques procedures and adequate equipment related to hemostasis retracting and suturing.
