Regal Beloit Corporation Design Engineer II, Hardware PCB in Fort Wayne,, Indiana



Position Summary:

Responsibility within the General Industries and Commercial Refrigeration business segments for PCB design, PCB modeling, PCB documentation, electronic component documentation, control documentation, documentation interfacing with suppliers and engineering change requests for controls.

Major Responsibilities:

  • Own multilayer PCB design of high voltage (120/230Vac & 460Vac) electronic controllers for residential and light commercial UL/CSA rated electric machines

  • Conduct design feasibility studies to identify layoutrelated trade-offs on packaging, cost, manufacturing and system performance for the engineering design team

  • Maintain technical coordination with engineering, test, suppliers, manufacturing, contract manufacturers, and quality to ensure cost effective design manufacturability

  • Manage all PCB design electronic files

  • Create PCB drawings as necessary for documentation and product development needs

  • Maintain written PCB design standards by keeping current latest internal lessons learned during development, on underlying PCB materials technology, fabrication, and assembly processes and their applications to products

  • Understand the company's compliance requirements and work with design and compliance engineers to meet regulations and standards from FCC, UL and other certifying bodies

  • Perform complex and difficult ECAD and MCAD tasks requiring extensive skill and knowledge of equipment capabilities, applications techniques, and design limits

    Required Education / Experience / Skills:

    • Bachelors of Science in Electrical engineering, EET or equivalent experience

    • 3 years relevant experience in printed circuit board layout

    • Experience with Altium, Draftsight, SolidWorks, and Microsoft Office

    • Experience designing mixed analog and digital circuits, including power

    • Demonstrated record of producing high quality PCB designs

    • Strong fundamental understanding of PCB design requirements, materials, and production processes and their relation to PCB layout

    • Solid understanding of basic electronic circuitry and electromagnetics

    • Experience with professional-level schematic capture, PCB layout, and 3D drafting packages is required

    • Up-to-date knowledge of IPC standards is required

    • Strong communication & interpersonal skills to work with multi-functional & multi-cultural teams

    • Must be able to work in a fast paced environment with minimal supervision and ability to manage multiple projects


    Desired Qualifications:

    • Experience in high volume consumer electronics

    • Familiar with RoHS and EHS guidelines

    • Familiar with design requirements for EMI, hipot, 6kV transient, ESD

    • Familiar with agency testing and requirements (e.g. UL-60730)

    • Strong innovation skills

    • Six Sigma Training/Certification (Green Belt / DFLSS)
