Parkview Health Legal Counsel - Virtual Health/Innovation & Consumerism in Fort Wayne, Indiana
Summary: Serves as primary legal counsel for all virtual health, innovation, consumerism and behavioral health service line legal matters, including being an active member of the leadership teams and attending leadership team meetings and board and committee meetings, as necessary. Responsible for all aspects of virtual health, innovation, consumerism and behavioral health service line legal matters, including contracts and transactions, Federal and State regulatory questions, governance issues, pre-litigation disputes, intellectual property, telemedicine issues and Affirmative Action legal issues. In collaboration with the HIPAA Privacy Officer and legal counsel, evaluates information sharing and HIPAA risks arising from virtual health. Assists compliance staff and Parkview Health leadership in avoiding and addressing significant compliance issues within the areas of responsibility. Serves as a resource for compliance staff and Parkview Health leaders on complex compliance matters requiring legal advice. Assists with acquisitions and transactions related to virtual health, innovation, consumerism and behavioral health. Also assists, as needed, with Parkview Health legal matters.
Education: Must have a Bachelor’s Degree and Juris Doctorate from an accredited law school.
Licensure: Must be licensed to practice law in Indiana and be in good standing.
Experience: Minimum of three to five years’ legal experience in healthcare law or a related legal field. Prefer business and/or healthcare law experience. Experience in intellectual property beneficial. Experience with employment law, antitrust regulations, Accountable Care Organizations regulations, IRS rules for tax-exempt entities, corporate governance, business litigation and dispute resolution, and intellectual property laws is also helpful. Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills, including ability to present information effectively to senior leadership and boards. Requires broad knowledge of contract law, legal transactional law and healthcare regulations related to virtual health, innovation, consumerism and behavioral health and requires strong business and financial acumen. Requires knowledge of and substantial experience with federal and state healthcare laws, including the Anti-Kickback Statute, Stark Law, HIPAA, State medical record laws, and Medicare/Medicaid regulations.
