Do you enjoy method development? The Applications Scientist, Liquid Handling supports the Automation Business Unit through the development of advanced automated methods and support for complex genomic workflows! You will develop and use scientific, automation, and programming expertise to perform chemistry characterization and demonstration which will include scoping, method development, optimization, and troubleshooting of the automated genomics applications.

Responsibilities

  • Gain a deep understanding of customer needs to develop automated genomics applications (e.g. next generation sequencing) on automation platforms.

  • Design, write, demonstrate, and sustain automated methods on liquid handling instrumentation in support of critical initiatives set by the Liquid Handling Product Line product management team.

  • Develop sales and marketing materials such as posters, presentations, training, and application notes to support commercial activities for automated genomic solutions.

  • Deliver automated methods and corresponding collateral on time and with regular cadence.

  • Learn the genomics landscape and provide scientific insight to inform strategic planning and new product development.

  • Liaison to global Field Applications and Tech Support teams for automated product performance.

  • Initiate and foster collaborations with genomic thought leaders and industry partners.

Qualifications

  • Life science training - Master’s degree or Bachelor’s degree with 3+ years of direct industry experience.

  • Knowledge in molecular biology, next generation sequencing, and nucleic acid preparation preferred.

  • Experience programming and operating automated liquid handlers desirable.

  • Demonstrated success designing and executing experimental plans.

  • Ability to establish and/or follow research procedures without direct supervision.

  • Willing to travel (domestic and international) 20%. *Temporarily suspended due to COVID-19
