Aerotek Construction Inspector in Indianapolis, Indiana


A growing, mid-sized civil engineering firm has an immediate opening for an INDOT Construction Inspector. This is an Inspector level person and will primarily work under a Project Supervisor on projects. This is a direct hire, long-term position with our client. The firm is looking for someone who can work on INDOT and LPA projects in Central Indiana on a long-term basis. These will be in Indianapolis and the surrounding counties. The position will require a person to oversee/inspect projects under the guidance Project Supervisor/RPR/Project Engineer. The inspector also has the opportunity to run smaller jobs if they have the ability. This position will have a career path plan to become an RPR and run/supervise jobs on their own.


  1. 2+ years of experience of INDOT/LPA construction inspection experience OR Bachelors degree in Civil Engineering/Construction Management and 0 years of INDOT/LPA construction inspection experience

  2. INDOT certified technician (ideally all 6 certifications, but will hire someone if they only have 2-3--for BS candidates they do not need any certifications)

  3. Proficiency in Site Manager (for BS grads, site manager is not required)

  4. Excellent communication skills--verbal & written--and interpersonal skills

  5. Desire to grow as an inspector and become a project supervisor


  • Represent the convening local authority as their on-site representative

  • Responsible for the project’s daily inspection/oversight to ensure compliance with the plans, contract documents, specifications

  • Responsible for all aspects of project inspection, including but not limited to; the preparation and submission of reports, keeping accurate records of work performed for purposes of payments to the Contractor, material records

  • Perform inspection duties on various construction activities

AVG. HOURS per week: 44 (will always work 40 hours and there will be OT, particularly in the summer months)

MILEAGE: 56 cents per mile. Mileage is paid from the office or person's home (whichever is closer to the jobsite) to/from jobsite. Also all on-site job related travel is paid.
