Job Location

The Blood Management Director position is located in Indianapolis, IN.

Job Duties

The Blood Management Director designs, directs, and facilitates multi-disciplinary initiatives system-wide within Community Health Network to ensure blood management and transfusion-related activities are safe, evidence-based, cost effective, in compliance with regulatory requirements, and in alignment with the network Strategic plan.

Experience

  • Minimum of three (3) years’ experience in Blood Management, transfusion practices, and performance improvement required.

  • Previous management or supervisory experience required.

Education

  • BSN or bachelor's in related field required.

  • If degree in Nursing, graduate of National League for Nursing (NLN), Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE), or Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN) accredited school of nursing, or in lieu of accredited schools listed above, three (3) years of related professional nursing experience required.

  • Master's degree preferred.

  • Prefer completed course from Society for the Advancement of Blood Management (SABM).

License

  • Current Indiana Registered Nurse License required.

  • Certified Professional in Healthcare Quality (CPHQ) preferred.

Skills

  • Leadership skills in a Network environment and strong communication, organizational and interpersonal/relationship skills.

  • Knowledge of blood management equipment (cell saver, platelet gel manufacturer and blood reservoirs), risk management principles, and issues regarding blood management.

  • Excellent project management skills and clear understanding of quality improvement process principles.

  • Prepare, read and interpret detailed reports. Analyze available information and formulate plans.

  • Function independently with minimal supervision. Creative, self-motivated, critical thinking skills, and sound judgment. Cohesive team-building skills.

  • Demonstrated ability to teach utilizing principles of Adult Education.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs, clinical systems, and spreadsheet software applications required.
