Indiana Hemophilia & Thrombosis Center Medical Assistant (CMA, RMA, PCT) in Indianapolis, Indiana

The IHTC is now hiring Certified Medical Assistants or Patient Care Technicians to join our growing patient care team!

The Medical Assistant is responsible for facilitating the flow of patient care in the clinic in an organized, efficient manner.

Prior experience with the rare and complex hematological conditions we treat is not expected; in depth, initial and ongoing hands-on training is provided.

Job Duties:

  • Check in and prepare patients for examination

  • Perform vital signs, review medications and allergies

  • Document data in the EMR

  • Discharge patients from clinic

  • Schedule follow up appointments

  • Complete INR finger sticks, follow up with nurse or provider as needed

  • Flax slide sheet, file slides in microscope room, notify providers

  • Maintain linens, exam room supplies, and snack inventory

  • Manage sharps containers and red bag waste

  • Maintain oxygen supply

  • Complete Quality Assurance checks; eyewash station, refrigerator logs, emergency kit supplies

  • Perform lab procedures; such as drawing blood

  • Attend and assist with Outreach Clinics as needed

  • Other clinical related duties as assigned


  • Certified Medical Assistant diploma or Associate’s Degree is preferred. RMA, EMT or similar designations will be considered.

  • Minimum 2 years of related experience

  • Valid Driver’s License and Automobile Insurance required
