Covance Sample Handling Asst II (3rd Shift) in Indianapolis, Indiana
The Sample Handling Assistant II is accountable for the handling/storing and processing of irreplaceable clinical trial specimens. The level II Assistant supports the various teams of the Specimen Management Center and is a liaison between Specimen Management and others departments.
This is a 3rd shift schedule of 10p-6:30am and has the opportunity for a differential incentive!
Essential Job Duties:
Responsible for freezer space utilization including but not limited to:
Monitor daily capacity of drawers and freezers, and consolidate samples when needed.
Assist in determining required capacity to perform consolidation tasks and identify individuals to perform functions.
Work with supervisors to ensure efficient use of drawer and freezer space.
Assist with new unit installation and relocations.
Maintain all freezer logs and documentation associated with storage units (logs, maps, etc.)
Submit work orders as needed
Assist in monitoring all required maintenance.
Maintain inventory spreadsheets for customer specific labels, stock items, SMART labels, maintain Special Handling Specimen Log, training checklist and training material.
Receipt and process Pass-Through international shipments from other Covance CLS locations.
Responsible for Kit receipt and accessioning.
Monitor Zavacor to include pending management and problem sample resolution.
Be able to handle and process AP samples.
Accession and registration of specimens in Zavacor if required.
Adds additional classes in SMART project definition if necessary.
Performs special request monitoring of validation and pull queues.
Completes all scheduled SMART queries.
Follow up of any issues or questions from the referral laboratories.
Registration of specimens on Zavacor database if required.
QC of Packing List.
Daily QC of shipment prepared.
Responsible for the generation of basic SMART inventory queries.
Use couriers, including scheduling pick-ups with premium couriers.
Regenerate EPL’s if necessary.
Able to perform shipments to all locations and is IATA certified.
Prepare all the documentation for shipping, AWD, Proforma etc
Minimum High School Diploma
Minimum 1-year applicable work experience
Able to work in a team as well as independently
Dynamic attitude and ability to work under pressure
Ability to take up challenges
Strong detail orientation
Strong communication and organizational skills
Ability to use several software packages i.e. Word, Excel, Access
Overtime and Saturday work as needed
