RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:Repair and maintenance of patterns, Core Boxes and flasks.Construction of new equipment for patterns, Core Boxes and flasks.Develops patterns and coreboxes in varying degrees of complexity in accordance with established principles of patternmaking and molding practices, allowing for shrinkage, finish, cooling stresses, location of core points, taking all dimensions from drawing of finished part.Jigs and fixtures associated with making molds, cores and flasks.Perform repairs or alterations on molding flasks and related equipment.Interpret, analyze prints and sketches, visualizing use of completed pattern and method of construction. Plan working procedure to determine the most effective manner of utilizing materials and equipment.Use trade mathematics, handbooks and shop formula, calculate dimensions, angles, radii and tapers necessary to make shapes.Makes sketches from old patterns, coreboxes and castings when prints are not available.Sets up and operates any type of machinery and uses a variety of hand tools to cut and form material to any intricate shape.Repairs broken or defective patterns and alters patterns to conform with changes in design.Operates woodworking and metalworking machinesPerform related duties as requested by Supervision.MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:Must have a High School Diploma or GED (must be able to read and write).Must be able to work in harsh conditions.Must have a Journeyman's Card (Apprenticeship Program).Must have experience working with wood, fiberglass, aluminum cast iron, and steel patterns.Foundry experience is a plus.Must be able to operate power equipment.
