Duties and responsibilities include teaching (face-to-face and online), scholarship, and service. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS ABD in sociology or a closely-related field with all degree requirements for the PhD from an accredited institution completed by date of appointment; commitment to high-quality teaching (as demonstrated via student-centered teaching philosophy statement). Demonstrated capacity for high-quality scholarship (as evidenced through at least one presentation in sociological or related outlets, or a peer-reviewed article that has been accepted for publication or has an invitation to be revised and resubmitted). AUTHORIZATION TO WORK IN THE US Employer will consider sponsorship. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS PhD in sociology; area of specialization is open. However, the ideal candidate will have (1) experience teaching independent sections of sociology courses, (2) single-authored or co-authored publications in competitive social science journals, and (3) a specialization in at least one of the following areas: globalization, race and ethnicity, sociology of work, or sociology of education. Evidence of excellence in teaching any of the following will be viewed favorably: survey research and other quantitative methodologies, social theory, and especially community research.
