Job Details:Scope of Care:The Orthopedic Unit is a 24 bed multidisciplinary, 24 hour orthopedic/medical/surgical unit located on the third floor of the hospital. Patients over the age of 12 years may be admitted to the unit. Average patient age is 63 years.Most common types of patients admitted to Orthopedics are hip, ankle and pelvic fractures, orthopedic and surgical patients. The most common surgical procedures are knee, hip, and shoulder arthroplasty. Other surgical procedures include hip pinning, open reduction, laminectomy, lumbar fusion and cervical fusion. General Medical/Surgical patients include abdominal pain, general abdominal surgery and back pain.Purpose: After the patient's plan of care has been determined by the team leader (RN), the Nursing Assistant performs various designated patient care activities necessary in caring for the personal needs, comfort and safety of the patient in accordance with Hospital Policy and Nursing Service Standards.Education/Experience:High school graduation or equivalency. One year direct patient care experience with successful completion of competency exam or completion of nursing assistant certification required. CPR certification recommended. Completes annual skill validations as well as safety and infection control procedures.
