Gillman Home Center Lumber Desk Associate in New Castle, Indiana
The Lumber Desk Associate will assist customers and contractors with any project needs.
Provide excellent customer service to all team members, customers and vendors.
Assist customers and contractors by providing quotes and product dimension information, both in person and over the phone. Handles special orders and advanced pricing.
Respond to customer inquiries regarding product selection, placement of orders, requests for prices and quotations, complaints and scheduling of deliveries and installations, and providing customer follow-ups.
Knowledge of construction in residential and commercial framing along with other building materials such as windows, doors, interior and exterior mill-work, and trusses.
Code and input customer orders, pricing information and additional data into the computer system.
Create accurate and complete estimates, invoices, work orders, and sales tickets.
Research credits, returns, and late payments as needed.
Order correct product from manufacture for customers.
Front & face products in store.
Help clean store.
Help out in other areas of the store as necessary.
Help customers at check-out as necessary. This may involve actually ringing out a customer at the cash register and/or helping a customer to their vehicle with the product.
Comfortable using a computer and quoting software.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to read, count, and write to accurately complete all documentation.
Supervisory Responsibility: This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. The employee is frequently required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms.
Ability to freely access all areas of the store including selling floor, stock area and register area.
Ability to operate and use all equipment necessary to run a store.
Ability to climb ladders.
Ability to move or transfer merchandise throughout the store generally weighing 0 - 20 pounds.
Position Type/Expected Hours of Work:This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work can be between 7:00 a.m. and 8:00 p.m. Must be able to work days, evenings and weekends as needed. Must be able to open/close store as needed.
Required Education and Experience:
High school diploma or GED diploma; or 1-3 years of related experience or training; or the equivalent combination of education and experience.
3+ years of experience in the building materials/construction industry
1+ years Customer service experience
Retail experience a plus
