C.H. Robinson Finance Manager in Plainfield, Indiana


The Finance Manager leads a team responsible for branch financial activities including accounts payable, billing, and financial reporting. They ensure the team achieves productivity, quality, and service objectives by aligning resources and defining role expectations in order to provide financial support and problem resolution. The Finance Manager will also manage the budgeting and forecasting process, month end close process, financial reporting, P&L trends, and variance analysis. They will work with leadership in all departments to ensure accurate financial results, problem resolution, and reporting to drive improvements.


The duties and responsibilities of this position consists of, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Manage daily AP and billing processes with Accounting Supervisor to ensure accurate and timely posting of revenue and expenses

  • Support Finance and service line Leadership on consolidated and customer-level financial positions. Advise and provides recommendations as necessary

  • Lead monthly, quarterly, and annual accounting close processes and ensure proper preparation of reports along with Staff Accountant

  • Provide internal financial and operational reporting and analysis to management across all functional areas

  • Lead and support weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual budget and forecasting processes

  • Identify potential savings and growth opportunities throughout the business

  • Ensure appropriate revenue and expense accounting principles are consistently practiced

  • Build internal reporting tools and automate tasks where possible to increase efficiencies within the finance and accounting teams

  • Support and lead staff development

  • Support and resolve customer and vendor problems or challenges

  • Other duties or responsibilities as assigned



  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university

  • 2+ years with direct or indirect supervisory experience

  • Ability to read and interpret financial statements

  • Experience with Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A), budgeting, and forecasting processes

  • Ability to properly support and reconcile month and quarter-end accounting close processes

  • Strong organizational and problem-solving skills

  • Self-starter, innovator, and positive team player with the ability to work with little or no supervision

  • Able to quickly identify problems and find creative/logical solutions with minimal assistance

  • Capable of producing quality material within tight timeframes while simultaneously managing several projects

  • Attention to detail and accuracy

  • The ability to set and meet deadlines with short lead times

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite of programs

  • Values a diverse and inclusive work environment


  • Logistics/Transportation industry knowledge
