Job Description:

Based on education and experience, this job opportunity will be filled at either job title/classification in the Generation Construction Coordinator job family:

Generation Construction Coordinator (intermediate)

Generation Construction Coordinator Associate (entry) = entry-level with associate's degree; OR, high school diploma/GED equivalent + 2 years' experience

Position Summary :

Coordinate assigned AEP construction projects located in AEP service territory. Participate in the planning, scheduling, and coordination of all electrical construction work activities in a safe and economical manner. Partner with internal (plant management teams) and external customers, labor, contractors, suppliers, vendors, and governmental agencies.

Principal Accountabilities :

  1. Coordinates and inspects electrical work (wiring, conduit, cable tray, terminations, transformers, relays, motor control center, breakers, etc...) to monitor and ensure safety and environmental policies are being followed and that project is being constructed per the specifications, drawings and permits.

  2. Coordinates electrical work activities of others within the work group, team or those external to the company including contractors, vendors, suppliers, regulatory agencies and community groups.

  3. Support and hold employees and contractors accountable to AEP Safety Policies, ensuring a safe working environment, and focused on \"Zero Harm\".

  4. Support contractors in pre-mobilization activities and development of work plan.

  5. Coordinate with project management and engineering & design groups to ensure the appropriate drawings are issued and available to support construction activities.

  6. Assist in resolution of design conflicts with field constraints (interference: plant and best field solution). Where appropriate assist the contractor in preparing formal Request for Information.

  7. Interface with plant personnel to resolve plant's needs and integrate electrical construction activities with plant operating and outage schedules.

  8. Coordinate / adjust electrical construction needs based on schedule or budget changes, and/or as-found conditions.

  9. Identify field-purchased material needs (commodity items) and support the procurement process.

  10. Monitor quality of workmanship and schedule adherence of all contractors and subcontractors and notify Construction Management of any deficiencies.

  11. Provide assistance to material suppliers for nonconformance issues and rework.

  12. Create extra work orders, backcharge documents, track extra work order time sheets and provide information for schedule development and changes.

  13. Verify and approve daily time, material and equipment sheets as required for \"Time & Material\" and \"Target\" type contracts.

  14. Provide training and guidance to others to support team goals.

  15. Comply with and promote ethically sound behavior and instill a sense of shared accountability among employees.

  16. Seek input from Subject Matter Experts by asking the right questions, understanding the nuances and by clarifying and validating information and not by relying on one's own knowledge base or assumptions.

Minimum Requirements:

Minimum Requirements: Associates degree in a related field such as Construction Management or Engineering Technology from an accredited university or college. Must have the ability to function in multi-discipline teams. Experience with Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, Power Point, Visio, and Adobe Acrobat a plus.

OR

A minimum of 2 years’ experience in one or more of the following: industrial construction projects, project management, project controls, fossil plant operations, and/or labor negotiations . Must have the ability to function in multi-discipline teams. Experience with Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, Power Point, Visio, and Adobe Acrobat a plus
