The Development Engineering Manager is responsible for managing activities related to product development and commercialization of new products. The Development Engineering Manager may supervise Development Engineers, Senior Development Engineers, Technicians and other job titles depending upon the needs of the project.iPrincipal Duties and ResponsibilitiesiFull working knowledge of manufacturing, development, and quality process/procedures. Creating and maintaining the project budget. Managing direct and indirect reports to complete product development projects. Serve as the leader of a development project, taking an active and hands-on approach with certain project tasks. Attend project-related meetings and work with other functional groups such as Regulatory, Quality, Manufacturing, and Purchasing to ensure the on-time completion of projects. Using independent judgement and discretion, conceptualizes designs and develops new products, technologies, and processes which support departmental goals and objectives. Assign and oversee completion of responsibilities by his or her team. Serves as engineering technical expert and provides guidance and developmental mentoring and coaching for other team members. Functional resource for NPI process and Design Control requirements. Sponsor Project Needs Assessment Documents (PNA) and their associated tasks in Medispend.iExpected Areas of CompetenceiSkilled and knowledgeable in manufacturing and new product processing; must have effectively developed processing on multiple new development projects. Advanced knowledge in control procedures and working knowledge of Design Controls. Advanced knowledge geometric dimensioning and tolerancing. Demonstrates ownership of and ability to lead projects with a broad scope and high level of complexity and able to prioritize and complete work in a timely manner and within budget. Demonstrates advanced problem solving skills through the use of quality and statistical tools. Ability to effectively lead an engineering team. Demonstrates exceptional written and verbal communication exhibiting a high level technical expertise, tact and discretion, and keeps management appropriately informed. Six Sigma and Lean Training. Ability to do feasibility studies on advanced processes to estimate product cost and analyze capital equipment, capacity, and capability. Critical thinking skills and experience to solve technical problems. Good written and verbal communication skills.iEducation/Experience RequirementsiB.S. degree from an ABET accredited school (or global equivalent) in one of the following engineering disciplines, Mechanical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering Technology, Biomedical Engineering, Bioengineering, Biomedical Engineering Technology, Bioengineering Technology, Aerospace Engineering or Aeronautical Engineering. Minimum of 6-8 years of related experience is required.
