Our Software Manager, Enabling Technology R&D will be a key supporting role in the team on the forefront of digital technology for the orthopedic medical device industry. This role will lead and execute all aspects of the technical process. The candidate for this role is a strong collaborator that takes the time to understand the key stakeholders in order to drive improvements and efficiently finish the aspects of technical documentation, standards and procedures in an Agile product development environment. They will have a steadfast and outstanding attention to every detail of the project. Finally, they will have communication and collaboration skills that allow them to lead the R&D team and influence the multi-functional teams to flawlessly execute on time and on scope. They will tenaciously drive the project timeline forward, unapologetically making and communicating critical path decisions.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Drive all technical aspects of the development including requirements definition, design, implementation, unit testing, and integration.

  • Develop and present status reports, dashboard to communicate and track the project process, risk and mitigations to the team and to multi-functional leadership.

  • Identify assumptions, risks, mitigations, key work, critical path dependencies and resource needs.

  • Work with multi-functional team members to drive project activities, key work, timelines, providing follow up on action items to ensure on-time, on-scope execution and completion of timelines.

  • Act as technical resource to team members, resolving complex challenges and ensuring the team utilizes secure coding practices and standard methodology development techniques.

  • Should be highly qualified and proficient at coding, able to get up to speed quickly with a code base.

  • Champion software engineering and operational excellence, establishing metrics and process for regular assessment and improvement. Show independent leadership of teams in dynamic environment. Deep understanding of medical device R&D processes over the product life cycle, from discovery to post marketing.

  • Develop team members with focus on leadership and operational excellence. Responsible for team career development, training, mentoring, performance evaluations, hiring, etc.

  • Work as a team lead in a hybrid-Agile product development environment, planning sprints and allocating core team resources to meet project requirements.

Qualifications

Required

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, or proof of exceptional skills in related technical field

  • Minimum 8years of relevant work experience, including full cycle full stack product development experience.

  • 3+ years of confirmed experience manager and growing software engineers

  • Experience in leading software development team from concept to commercialization

  • Experience with software application development in one or more of the following language: C++, C#, Java, Python and/or PHP

  • Professional in development methodologies (including Agile) and leading all aspects of development lifecycle including design, testing, deployment, support, and documentation.

  • Requires up to 15% travel, domestic and international

    Preferred:

  • Background in software architecture and systems design

  • Experience leading development of automated validation systems to ensure high quality product releases

  • Experience with Visual Studio, Azure Devops and Bitbucket preferred.

  • Experience with software as a medical devices

  • Experience with 510K and CE marking standards for SaMD: ISO 62304, 14971, 60601, 13485

  • Experience with machine learning platforms

  • Experience in implementation of cybersecurity
